How Sculptra® Works and What to Expect

Sculptra® is made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible and biodegradable synthetic material that has been used safely in medical applications for many years. It is not derived from human or animal sources and does not require allergy testing. Once injected, Sculptra® stimulates collagen production as the product is gradually absorbed by the body.

Results develop gradually and can last up to two years after the initial treatment series. Your dermatologist will determine the number of sessions needed based on your facial structure and treatment goals. Most patients require three to six sessions, typically spaced about six weeks apart.

What Is Recovery Like After Sculptra®?

After treatment, you may experience temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection sites. These effects typically resolve within a few hours to a few days. Ice can be used to help reduce swelling.

Patients are advised to gently massage the treated area several times a day for a few days following treatment. Most people feel comfortable returning to normal activities shortly after their appointment.
