Botox® Injections for a Smoother, Natural Look

Our dermatologists have extensive experience using neuromodulators, including Botox®, and have performed wrinkle-reducing injections for more than eight years. This experience includes training other physicians in proper injection technique, with a focus on precision and natural-looking outcomes.

Botox® is commonly used to help soften facial lines, including lines between the eyebrows, across the forehead, around the eyes, and near the mouth. Treatment is carefully tailored to each patient’s facial structure and goals.

Botox® works by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles through blocking a chemical messenger called acetylcholine. By limiting muscle movement in specific areas, the appearance of wrinkles can be reduced. In addition to cosmetic use, Botox® is also used for certain medical conditions, such as muscle spasms, migraines, and excessive sweating.

After Botox® injections, treated muscles gradually relax, making facial lines less noticeable. Because the effects are temporary, repeat treatments are typically needed to maintain the appearance over time.

Instructions For Botox® Treatment

Pre-treatment Guidelines

– Refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages and specific medications, such as aspirin.

– Schedule your appointment at least two weeks before any important event to give time for redness or swelling to go away.

Post-treatment Recommendations

– Should you experience discomfort, Tylenol may provide relief.

– Some transient swelling may occur, but it should dissipate shortly.

– Avoid touching the injected area to preserve the desired effect.

– Maintain an upright posture for approximately four hours following the treatment and abstain from vigorous physical activity during this period.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Botox® Administered?

This wrinkle relaxer is delivered by injection and does not require a hospital setting. It is virtually painless, and there is no recovery time.

What Should I Expect During and After Treatment?

There may be, at most, mild discomfort when we administer the injections and some slight bruising may appear in the few days after the treatment. This can be easily covered with makeup. It is possible to return to work immediately after your treatment.

Who is a candidate for muscle relaxer injections?

Candidates for the popular brands of muscle relaxer injections we administer are age eighteen and older, interested in improving the appearance of their face. Many candidates are seeking relief from wrinkles and brow furrows, and looking to achieve a more rested, relaxed appearance.

How Does Botox® Work?

These injections weaken, through inhibition, the muscles that cause the wrinkles, but do not normally interfere with facial expressions. Weakening the muscle that causes the wrinkles to form creates dramatic improvement in appearance that can be seen within seven days.

How Long Does Neuromodulator Treatment Last?

The muscles that were weakened by a neurotoxin injection eventually regain their strength and the wrinkles may reappear. On average, the treatment lasts for three months, but it may stretch for up to six months.

Will There Be Any Downtime?

You may resume normal activities immediately. Vigorous exercise or lying flat may be restricted for a few hours following treatment. Many patients undergo treatment during their lunch break and return to work after treatment.

What Are The Benefits of Wrinkle Relaxer Injectables?

The popular wrinkle relaxers we administer have no downtime as opposed to other wrinkle reducing methods. Also, following treatment there is no pain or discomfort. Results can be seen within 1 – 10 days depending on several factors.

Are the Injections Painful?

The only pain or discomfort is a slight pinprick sensation from the small needle injecting the neuromodulator.

What are the Limitations of Neuromodulators?

Wrinkle reducing injections are not a permanent answer to reducing wrinkles. Also, results vary and occasional problems with asymmetry may occur.

Who Provides the Treatment?

All treatments at Cahaba Dermatology are performed by Dr. Groysman or Dr. Wang.
