The Problem
One area of concern that patients often bring to our attention is the insecurities that are caused by the appearance of their neck. During the average daily skincare routine, the neck often gets neglected because we forget to moisturize, exfoliate, and protect our necks with sunblock like we do our faces.
Dehydration and sun exposure cause a breakdown in the collagen and elastin fibers causing loose, crepey skin. Fast weight loss can have the same effect on the neck area. The sagging of the face and neck can cause the fat tissue to settle along the jawline in pockets. Some people have an issue with fat tissue settling under the chin and around the jawline creating what are called jowls. This is mostly inherited, so if your grandparents or parents have a “double chin,” it is likely that you will develop one also.
Your Skincare Solution
The good news is that we offer several services to improve the appearance of your neck, and these services work even better when they are paired together. CoolSculpting and Exilis go hand in hand when it comes to treating the neck. CoolSculpting uses a technology called cryolipolysis to kill the fat cells in the treated area. The dead fat cells are absorbed and eliminated which therefore leaves a smaller, more refined jawline. Exilis uses a combination of radio frequency and ultrasound. With Exilis, the skin and underlying tissue are heated to 42-45 degrees Celsius for a specific amount of time. This stimulates collagen and elastin. Immediately after the Exilis treatment you will visibly notice lifting and tightening of the neck and lower face, but results will continue to improve for several months following your final treatment.
For a true transformation of your neck, the average person will need at least 2 cycles of CoolSculpting and 6 Exilis skin tightening treatments. For best results, it’s extremely important that you remain well hydrated during your treatment period. Those who have larger pockets of fat and/or more extensive sagging may need additional treatments. See your dermatologist or aesthetician for more information on our full line of services and products to treat the neck. You can also drop by Spa Cahaba for a free consultation with one of our well-trained aestheticians to get your treatment started!
