Excessive Sweating

Excessive sweating (or Hyperhidrosis) is a common medical condition that can have many negative effects on daily quality of life. Patients will often apply and reapply antiperspirants 5-12 times a day, ruin multiple items of clothing, wear only black or white clothing, double layer clothing, and decline public event opportunities solely because of their underarm sweating. There are a variety of treatments available including antiperspirants (DrySol), medications, Botox™ injections, iontophoresis, surgery and medications (rubinol).

Cahaba Dermatology is now offering miraDry® for excessive underarm sweating. miraDry® is a lasting solution for underarm sweating.

miraDry® - a non-invasive solution that provides lasting results.
The miraDry procedure is quick and non-invasive. The miraDry System delivers precisely controlled energy to the region where the underarm sweat glands reside, and eliminates the sweat glands non-invasively. Because the sweat glands do not come back or regenerate after treatment, the results are lasting. And, results are fast – you can expect to see sweat reduction immediately after treatment, with minimal to no downtime.

Botox™ Injections Botox injections is an excellent solution for palmar, plantar, and axillary hyperhidrosis.  Botox works by blocking the chemical signals coming from the nerves that stimulate sweat glands.  This interruption is effective in decreasing excessive sweating but it is only temporary.  Patients should expect to be re-injected every 6 months.
